Make Art With Jackie!

Classes will be informal, informative and fun. With a maximum of six students, group classes are small, so that everyone gets adequate one-on-one time with the instructor. Group classes are geared toward adults and high school level students.

Additionally, private lessons are available in blocks of three focused hours of art theory and practice, along with breaks, as the student requires. Refreshments provided for all sessions.

    Beginners
If you are new to painting and want to know where to begin, then you’ve come to the right place. I will start you on a path of understanding more about color, through a series of carefully guided exercises in making your own color wheel and color charts. These charts are designed to cover all the fundamental areas of what you need to be aware of, as you explore your creative pursuits. By the end of your first class, you will have made reference charts that you will want to put up in your own home studio, or wherever you find yourself putting color to paper.

    Intermediate
If you are a returning artist, I welcome discussing your artistic growth and learning. This may mean that we can review some areas of painting that you want to excel at or learn more. In the past, I have worked with students that wish to paint more complex and nuanced subjects, like water, glass objects, or fog-influenced outdoor landscapes. In this intermediate level, we can finally explore how to use certain painterly techniques, in more depth than a beginner class can appreciate. I will tailor the class to your skill level and discuss how to develop your own artistic insights, strengths and knowledge into your work.

    Advanced
Artists that have been working for a long time often overlook the importance of re-energizing. Taking a creative break is necessary and you may be in a transitional period. If you are a mid-career student, or looking to find a new path to explore, I can suggest new materials and subject matter that will help energize your creative path. Being in the south end and having direct exposure to this vibrant artistic community, we will engage in the local resources that are amongst us. The south end is filled with opportunities to show your work and find what interests you.

Classes will be held in my studio, unless indicated, as we sometimes paint outdoors.

    Investment in Learning

Private lessons can be booked any time by appointment. Our time together will include a personal evaluation of your previous work to gain insight in your direction. We will work together to tailor the class to suit your needs and goals and come up with a long term plan. Private lessons are the ideal way to enjoy learning at your own pace.

Group lessons will be taught using demonstrations and practice on specific themes. I will also include one-on-one instruction for each student, and discuss any areas of interest that the group would like to explore.

Students in both private and group lessons will bring their own paints, brushes and paper to each class. A materials list will be provided with the recommended supplies that are designed to get you fully equipped for several weeks of painting at home.

    Investment:

    Private Lessons

$125.00 for a half day lesson. (4 hours per day)
$175.00 for a full day lesson. (6 hours per day)

    Group Lessons

Based on demand, I will put together group classes at any time. I have a waiting list of students that I use to put together a four week class that suits everyone's schedule. In addition, special group lessons will be announced on my website. Group lessons have a minimum of 3 students, and run for four consecutive weeks, for three hours each session. Call now to book a group lesson with your friends, or sign up to meet new artists in this fun way to meet other artists.
