About My Work
My hand painted silk scarves, tank tops and pillow covers are uniquely
created using a special process that enables me to capture a photographic
representation of a variety of Vermont foliage. Each fabric
piece is a unique collection of sugar maples, ferns, sumacs and bleeding
heart foliage. I am thrilled to be able to work with natural
forms to create my crafts and it’s especially rewarding to be able
to offer a bit of Vermont through my craft to my customers.
Since I paint outdoors, each piece requires special attention to the weather!
That’s right: I have to check the forecast the night before I plan
to work on my fabrics. If it’s raining….I can’t paint.
It’s as simple as that. The process I use requires a bright
cloudless sunny day. The paint I use requires a special drying
procedure outdoors and in full sunlight.
Fabrics Used
I use first quality Habotoi and Crepe De Chine silks for my scarves, decorative pillows
and tank tops as well as 100% cotton for my line of clothing.
I can custom paint small amounts for quilters or home decorators as
well. The crisp and clear outlines of the leaves and ferns that you see exposed
onto my fabrics make excellent designs, which I have photographed
and used for my graphic design work, as well. I will also do
commissioned work for print and media.
Watercolor Art
In keeping with a loose and colorful watercolor painting style, I also
paint landscapes and floral designs that are rich in color and expression.
I keep a new and ever changing body of contemporary art.
Classes
I teach classes in watercolor techniques to multi-age groups
and individuals. Please contact me for more information.
