It all started some twenty years ago driving back from a cross country trip one summer. My husband insisted we go up the canyons in Utah. Those would be the Cottonwood Canyons,
which are part of the Wasatch Mountain range
that spans hundreds of miles throughout Utah. The sheer size and scope of these rugged mountains were jaw-dropping. I've started a watercolor study of the mountains, shown here in late fall, when the deciduous colors
of the trees contrast with the golden colors and mossy greens of the lowlands. In the mornings the peaks are snowcapped, and by afternoon the snow burns off. Watercolor is a great medium to capture
all these colors, and so begins the series that I have started here. I'm planning a return trip, in February, 2010, where I will continue to paint in this area. I hope to find a place in Utah to
show my work: "A Study of the Wasatch Range, Throughout the Various Seasons and Snow Conditions".
