Starbuck's at Barnes and Noble Art Show

Come visit the Starbuck's Coffee Shop at Barnes and Noble and have a look at some of my latest work, including two triptychs and a larger landscape panel. This collection was all done using acrylics, and represents an exciting new direction of media, as I have historically worked in watercolors.

Starbuck's Coffee Shop at Barnes and Noble

Although some of the themes of these pieces are ones I have done in the past (nature and landscapes), I wanted to challenge myself and surprise my audience by painting a view of downtown Burlington, Vermont, that few consider, from atop the downtown public parking lot. Come see how it turned out.

Common Ground Center

Starksboro, Vermont

Friday, August 29th to Tuesday, September 30th, 2008

At this showing, I exhibited a 3 year collection of watercolors I painted at the Burlington Farmers' Market. These figures are lighthearted moments of Vermonters shopping at the farmers' markets. These are ordinary moments that I have turned into extraordinary expressions of community. Locate these paintings on the Street Scenes webpage, where you can see Vermonters chat, play chess and walk the dog on a summer day in the park. Find the "Wise Old Man" figure hidden in each of my pictures. Also showing are my landscapes and florals inspired by the change of seasons. Using vibrant colors and rich translucent strokes, I have attempted to express the universal themes of nature and my love of the Vermont landscape.
