This piece was made one Saturday at the Burlington Artists' Market,
which is adjacent to the Farmers' Market, a fine Burlington tradition.
The lively market became an ideal setting for much of this series.
Furniture Demo
Some Saturdays a young carpenter comes and demonstrates the use of the
tools that carpenters used centuries ago. Many crowd around to witness
him turn a piece of square stock into a round dowel.
Pregnant Shopper
Summers in Burlington are often spectacular, with the sun turning
colors into flags of hopefulness, and faces into smiles of thankfulness.
Spirits run high on days when the sun prevails on our city.
Holding Up The Pole
Casually, life takes its time on a day like the one on which this piece
was created. Somehow, through this self-reflection, we are taken back to
a time when life was carefree, and worries were dissapated like clouds on
a sunny day.
Vase Vendor
Crafts people come and sell their goods, bakers sell their bread. Farmers
dominate the market with beautiful fresh produce grown from Vermont soils.
These vases were made from the efforts of a fellow Vermonter.
City Hall Park
On this day, no one knew what the future might hold, and no one cared.
The day was forgiving and the sense of community bathed us all in waves
of security, knowing we had not a single more important thing to do than
to be in the park at that moment.
